Well, I've just spent one of the most tedious hours of my life
on this issue...

I wanted to check something on Larry's database for an item I'm
writing on Astronomers and UFOs so I thought I'd try one last
time to get that software to work on my newest computer...

I'm pleased to report that I've now got Larry's *U* software
running smoothly on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit computer
(i.e. a rather new one).

Basically, the steps are as per my email an hour or two ago in
relation to getting that software working on Vista etc (i.e. you
run it within a Microsoft Virtual PC console), but replace Step
1 with the several steps relating to installing XP Mode for
Windows 7 at the link below:

When you first run Larry's software in this way, the Virtual PC
Console crashes - but if you click on reset within that Console
and then select the option to relaunch the Virtual Console in
safe mode it all seems to work fine (including the DOS based
"music" which really brings back memories...).

All the best,
