With all your knowledge of aircraft and related history you, for some reason didn't notice that the region of the Hudson Valley is home to one of the biggest airfields and runways on the East Coast. It was called Stewart Airforce Base and is now Stewart International Airport and still houses a massive military presence. As for aircraft doing illegal operations in the region the accounts by police, civilians, and military are well documented. Sorry you missed that memo. From top professors at the large colleges to IBM experts in various fields of advanced science and more, people have been reporting strange aircraft that we now associate with the UFO phenom. Heck, there are so many people flying planes up and down NY State and here's a short list of just the crashes in the Adirondacks: http://www.adirondackalmanack.com/2009/11/short-history-of-adirondack-airplane.html As for the Catskills there is: http://www.chayden.net/Catskills/Notes/AircraftCrashes.html People and organizations do what the heck they want to when they want to and don't always obey the law. Just because they're not supposed to do something doesn't mean they won't or we wouldn't have such massive global crime such as weapons, drugs, slavery.
