Allen Hynek about one that landed in her yard when Dr. Hynek did a lecture at Dutchess Community College in the late 70s that I attended. She lived a hoot and a holler from my parents' second home in Hyde Park. Hynek felt her story amazing enough to just drop what he was doing and just talk to her. We would find all sorts of parts and products of experimental craft both military and private. The area seemed to frequently have someone slapping together something and flying it around scaring the wits out of people. My UFO sightings all happened with other people around. I would be alerted that a UFO was outside and I'd be following the crowd and lo and behold. I have no doubt some were military craft and some private but I also now have to admit some were more. In the beginning of this thread I mentioned that I had come to the realization that I hadn't seen another UFO since I'd left the region. However, I've had a great opportunity to track down the people who were with me when we saw these craft but only a handful will admit it. Most others work for the government now or then or law enforcement or major media. Are there even more witnesses? Sure bet! Realized that with all the colleges in the area I hit their alumni boards and asked around. The response was overwhelming. Bard, Vassar, Dutchess Community College, Ulster Community College, Marist College, and the Culinary Institute of America. I went back fifty years or more with them as most alumni are family and friends. Couldn't shut folks up and they're still talking. So again, with IBM there and several military bases both public and secret, plus labs and more, you're going to have their experiments running amok now and then. Sometimes the pilots get arrogant and pull stunts like that one moron who strafed the Metro North train going from Poughkeepsie to NY. It was morning and a black helicopter literally strafed the train so close that we could see the pilot's faces and eye color! All black copter, pilots in dark gray suits. Scared the morning dew out of folks and some got real riled. Right across from Storm King Mountain on the river this happened. What's even more interesting is that strange sightings go back as far as records are kept. I spent ridiculous amounts of hours going through old microfiche and records on paper as well as family and friends and church records. The whole NY region is weird.
