Dave: It looks like a UCLA student was able to use a room at Covel Hall - where one of the better campus cafeterias is located. Covel Hall is on the far west side of UCLA and located on the hill over looking the main campus area. It is not any where near the Sleep Lab, which I checked out during one of my research forays. Therefore, I can state that the scantily clad "sleeper" is not part of any UCLA experimental project. The red silk-like sheets should be the first clue this is not a bone fide experiment. A red sheet would not be conducive to inducing a restful sleep. Too bad there was no link to the real UCLA results from experiments done in the Sleep Lab. It does make for some interesting reading.
