Allen did have a high security clearance, but nothing in his behavior on any level betrayed any awareness of UFO secrets; to the contrary, he was wont to complain about the oafishness of the Blue Book personnel with whom he had to deal. In his later years he expressed growing frustration about what he thought he might not have been told. All conspiracy theories focused on Hynek, I've noticed, come from those who knew him either not at all or very slightly. >>In my opinion you're engaged in some pretty serious time-wasting. >Well, I've wasted more time on sightings by Tombaugh and Menzel... Any time spent on Menzel is time wasted by definition. >(Not to mention ufology more generally!) Then don't. I find that after all these years, I have a harder and harder time making room for ufology amid my many other intellectual interests. The world is an interesting place with plenty of other fascinations. If I had concluded years ago that there's nothing sufficiently unusual going on to warrant the time, attention, and effort, I'd have abandoned ufology long ago. Jerry Clark Listen to 'Strange Days...
