Sorry, Don, To the best of my knowledge there is only a single report where the change from GMT (Zulu) time to BST was a _probable_ factor (though it is possible that it was a factor in other reports). The case doesn't stand or fall on any single report. There is a group of reports around 01:10(A) (the time of the re-entry) where witnesses only report seeing one event - not two (the re- entry AND something else). If you take those reports out of the series, you are left with a handful of isolated reports, very unlikely to be related to each other and some of them with probable explanations. It is unfortunate that the MoD focussed on the reports which can be explained by the re-entry (mostly LITS) rather than other reports which were much more difficult to explain. It is also unfortunate that the MoD lacked the expertise to identify the 01:10 reports (until the explanation was pointed out to them by BUFORA, but even then the Lt.Col. rejected that it explained the bulk of the 01:10 reports because all the expert witnesses had height finding radar installed underneath their headgear). As for Rendlesham, I don't think Ian has suggested that the lighthouse was the ONLY factor. I am also not sure that he regards every aspect of the case resolved. The coincidence of the timing of the flashes recorded on Halt's tape is difficult to ignore. Even Lt.Col. Pope conceded that the lighthouse played a part, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhMrbZYkeNQ (at 09:50) The radiation was insignificant and the equipment unsuited to such low-level measurements, I am happy to write that off as probably cosmic radiation. You should also question why something as significant as an alien attack on a Nuclear arsenal took 3 weeks to be reported - if indeed there was an alien attack and if indeed there were Nucs in storage at the base at the time....I have reason to doubt both. That is without even considering the 'binary download' that took 30 years to disclose, and the use of mediums to 'investigate' the case. Quite frankly, the whole incident is so much of a circus now, there is no chance of making real sense out of any of it. Another case where the MoD failed to investigate properly (even the so-called 'cold-case review' was amateurish and ineffective). I don't argue that Rendlesham is solved, but I suggest that there is so much garbage embedded in it now, it never will be resolved. By the way, the following was from Trinity House in 2000, I think I mentioned it on here before: "According to our records in December 1980, Orfordness had a 3,000 watt lamp with a range of 30 miles. The 1,000 watt lamp was not installed until October 1991. The station has recently been modernised again with the installation of 70 watt metal halide lamps. The range of the light is now 20 miles. As far as our records show, the flash pattern remains the same as 1980 ( one white flash every five seconds). As the station was unmanned there will not be a log book covering December 1980." So it's appearance today is quite different from it's appearance in 1980. I have spoken to local people who said that in 1980, the loom of the beam did sweep the forest in parts - I'm not sure when the landward 'mask' was installed, or if there were any changes to it in the intervening years, but quite frankly, I am now past caring.
