Actually, "Orwellian" is the phrase that comes to mind when one thinks of the debunking mindset. The true disbelievers' freewheeling use of the verb "solve," for one prominent example, often does that for me. Orwell happens to be a hero of mine - I'd wager that I've read more of him and his biographers than anybody here - and I think, for example, of the delightful phrase, employed to characterize meaningless rhetoric affecting profundity, "an appearance of solidity to pure wind." There are many uncertainties in this life, but of one thing we can be sure: debunkers will take care to keep that wind blowing, all the while insisting it's concrete.
