It is, in an analysis I saw a link to in one of the comments in the DeVoid thread concerned, not a great hoax at all, but rather inept, in fact: See: http://thehoaxkiller.com/?p=106 This link has both a video analysis of the various masking errors (which include a couple frames where the smoke ring, which was added in, goes _backwards_), and a technical write-up which provides supplementary details.
