Hi Theo,

Giuliano Marinkovic has already responded by mentioning that you
can do similar searches with Adobe Reader (although he and I
have both found using Adobe Reader to search folders full of PDF
files to be much slower than the method I outlined using PDF
Xchange viewer). Even a relatively slow computerised search is,
however, much faster than simply reading all the free
collections of journals/magazines which can now be downloaded...

A few Google searches suggest that "Skim" for Mac OS users is
sometimes suggested as a Mac replacement for PDF Xchange Viewer
- but those recommendations have not specifically referred to
the relevant search function.

Also, one webpage has referred to the possibility of ability of
a Mac computer to run PDF Xchange Viewer "via a wine layer".
I've never owned a Mac, so I've never come across "a wine layer"
and don't know if the search function of PDF Xchange Viewer can
be run under "a wine layer" (whatever that is...) or if the
speed is comparable to the very fast results on a Windows
computer.

All the best,

Isaac
