I just received a communication on this subject from Dr. Stoyan
Sarg, the inventor of BSM-SG theory which includes a novel
understanding of space. He summarizes the theory in this
document.

The following are his comments on the high power laser
experiment, included with his permission.

Such a superpower laser might leave holes in the space fabric,
because the physical vacuum has an underlying superdense
structure that carries the physical fields: gravity, electrical
and magnetic. This could affect the binding forces between atoms
and molecules. I don't know what the critical power is per unit
volume, but if they reach this value, such holes could be
created and they could stay and drift a finite time.

I don't know how they might affect air flight but they might
have a hazardous biological effect on humans. The explanation
for these holes by the BSM-SG theory is that the self-
synchronization between the nodes of the space fabric is
disturbed and its restoration takes a finite time. Since the
self-synchronization is directly involved in the propagation of
gravity, electrical and magnetic lines, its disturbance will
affect the binding forces between atoms and molecules in solids.
As a human hazard, they may affect the weak hydrogen bonds in
human DNA in a similar way as radiation, which may lead to
cancer.
