Kathy, These two sentences characterize what a lot of people, not just astronomers, know and - more specifically - don't know about UFOs. If they "can't recite verbatim chapter and verse from a specific case," they don't know much that's relevant or worth knowin. Their pronouncements should be judged accordingly. The proper answer from an astronomer who hasn't educated himself on the particulars of the UFO evidence is, "I don't know. I haven't studied the matter."
