From: Ray Dickenson <r.dickenson.nul> Date: Fri, 13 May 2011 08:35:34 +0100 Archived: Fri, 13 May 2011 04:40:55 -0400 Subject: The Abduction Portfolio Confession: I have a mental block against all 'abduction evidence' - the whole portfolio. And I think most people who pride themselves on their pragmatism and logic probably share my failing. Here's the most likely underlying fear or phobia. If even part of the abduction portfolio is correct, then we humans are not in control of our perceptions of 'reality' - but someone else might be. What got me thinking this way was recently re-reading a quote from the Brookings Report, which is really talking about folk like me and many others on this list - "It has been speculated that of all groups, scientists and engineers might be the most devastated by the discovery of relatively superior creatures, since these professions are most clearly associated with the mastery of nature rather than with the understanding and expression of man" ... "Advanced understanding of nature might vitiate all our theories at the very least, if not also require a culture and perhaps a brain inaccessible to earth scientists" For the first time I fully understand its meaning. Not that it helps very much. Cheers Ray D Listen to 'Strange Days...
