The article gives false prestige to un-named 'research' and to at least two individuals: i) Astronomer Shostak. If he has any knowledge of UFOs it's from sighting(s) he's not telling about. His qualifications are as an astronomer, and he doesn't seem sure of the implications of basic physics. Analyzed, his comments are meaningless - because no-one knows if his assumptions are true. So why ask him about UFOs? ii) Bureaucrat (clerk) Pope. Similarly, if he has any knowledge of UFOs it's from sighting(s) he's not telling about. He doesn't seem qualified to even talk about basic physics. Analyzed, his comments are meaningless - because no-one knows if his assumptions are true. So why ask him about UFOs? iii) 'Several studies' are quoted as saying that "the majority of UFOs are observations of some real but common and normal objects". Who says so? And based on what secret knowledge? Analyzed, the claim is meaningless - because no-one knows if its assumptions are true. So why accept those anonymous opinions about UFOs? The only person worth quoting was Dr. Richard Haines; not for his knowledge of physics, or his work on human perceptions in flight conditions but for his extensive studies of many well- documented UFO sightings by aircrew - capable observers (with no axe to grind) who personally gave Haines a wealth of information which had a profound effect on his views. Haines approached his studies with _no_ assumptions, as you can gather from his reports on video. I.e. he now says "We are not dealing with mental projections or hallucinations on the part of the witness, but with the real physical phenomenon". Having seen some of Dr Haines' presentations on video, I think that's the only part of the article worth reading, the rest is more or less spurious - routine misleading media waffle.
