Hello Gildas, List All -

Budd Hopkins, in arguing for the reality of alien abductions has
said, repeatedly that there were no traditional "Sci-Fi" gods or
demons on which the abductee could draw. He was suggesting that
this was a new phenomenon and because of that there was an
element of' reality in it.

I was merely pointing out that there are cultural elements of
alien abduction in the science fiction literature and movies. I
was saying that abduction did not develop in some sort of
cultural vacuum. There are precursors in our society.

But we agree, that to suggest all abductions had their root in
science fiction is weak. But to suggest that there were no such
elements is wrong.

BTW - The scare quotes, as Jerry calls them, is a reference to the
fact that science fiction fans think of it as science fiction
and not sci-fi, the SyFy channel notwithstanding.
