Logic Vs 'Common Sense'/Instinct

Subject: Logic Vs 'Common Sense'/Instinct

Hello List,

Evolved brains use logic, while primitive ones use common
sense/instinct (depending how primitive). That's because data x
instinct will just get you a meal (unless it's a trap); whereas
data x logic will get you the truth (eventually - if you get
enough data).

So for long-term survival we need logic. Sadly we don't yet use
it much, because the results are too scary for primitives like
us. Why? Take a look at technological advances in this
generation, then multiply those (with incremental accelaration)
by a thousand times. That only takes you a few millenia ahead
but even so the possible advances are way beyond our present
comprehension or even our imagination.

Therefore logic says about half the intelligences in the
universe have technology we'd think of as weird, paranormal or
sheer magic, and which are totally undetectable by us - because
we have a mere couple of centuries of 'technology' but half the
universe (roughly, on average) is millions or billions of years
ahead of us.

By logic, given the size and age of the universe, those
technologies are being used here and now. Because, as AR Wallace
said, 'once a threshold of intelligence is reached different
rules apply' (and there are probably several such thresholds).
As we've seen on Earth, crossing one threshold meant exponential
increase of populations, of transportation methods + speeds, and
of interests + studies (back to that need for 'data x logic').

Step-by-step logic forces us to face the fact that we are
(probably) all being observed, maybe all of the time. And that
many of the observers are also being observed in their turn.

Nb that conclusion doesn't consider time-travel, mainly because
I don't believe it's possible - but might be wrong.
