I spoke with one of those in charge of that effort and he said that it was nearly impossible to get everyone to look at the documents in the same objective way, and where thousands should have been dealt with, only a few hundred were processed in the same amount of time. We are, indeed, talking about hundreds of thousands of boxes of old documents at Air Force storage facilities all across the US. The Library of Congress admits that they are far behind in getting documents declassified, and some of those apparently stretch back to the Civil War. All this being said, the declassification effort has ground to a halt as the US deals with War and budget issues. Now I suppose it would interesting if the Tea Party could be convinced that this is needed to get a clear view of our Government, but that's going to be a tough hill to climb. Meanwhile, you ask for citizens to take on their employer at a time when there are few jobs to find, even if you haven't been blacklisted. But in the end, I suspect secrets won't be revealed until those that hold them wish it. Listen to 'Strange Days...
