I passed the narrative through Google translate, but it consists mainly of Meessen asking the witness technical questions which I doubt he really understood, and the witness saying "I don't know". I have reproduced the output from Google below with a few corrections. The video at the link above is more enlightening, but my French isn't up to the task of understanding it all and summarising it. It is only available on-line for a short time. If any French speakers can summarise the video content in the meantime, I would appreciate it. Thanks to Jean-Michel Abrassart of EuroUFOnet for the lead. Joe ----- UFO hoax: Close encounter of the third kind between the expert and the joker The admission of deception of an inhabitant of the region of Verviers, about the UFO photo that defied the experts for 20 years was a shock to one of them, a physicist at the UCL yesterday on discovering from RTL that the photo was a fake. He did not hesitate to get in contact with the photographer. This scientist does not believe it was a hoax despite the explanations. Story by Samuel and Julien Ledoux Raway. The deception of the Petit-Rechain UFO unveiled yesterday by Patrick (see story), the author of the photo, shook a Belgian researcher. It was floored for hours and hours on this enigmatic image. Today, he does not believe that the UFO was a vulgar polystyrene panel with three light bulbs. Incredulous, he visited the home of the man who finally divulged the truth, 20 years later. A close encounter of the Third Kind with our reporters Samuel and Julien Ledoux Raway. The scientist has posed questions about the mysteries of the photo. In response, it will not only frustrating "I have no idea," "I do not know" or "I do not know either." Here is an excerpt from the first interview (the video will be available to 14h) The expert: Your model measured 80 cm and you put three bulbs flashlight. So it's very small compared to the model. And so I ask you, how you explain what appears on the slide? The joker: I do not know The expert: On the one hand, the light spots are quite large. On the other hand they are different, it does not correspond at all to a small bulb ... The joker: Yeah, I do not know, I do not know to explain it. I have no idea, no. he expert: Then, secondly, in the color slide, there are three layers and were able to separate what was in the three layers and it's very different what was in three layers. In the red layer, the object does not appear. In the blue layer, it appears. How do you explain that? The joker: I do not know either. The expert: Because if you have flashlight bulbs that gives the white light, it must give the same result ... The joker: I do not know, I could not tell you ... The expert: So now something else. It is the details of the structures of three lights (he shows pictures). This corresponds to the higher light and we see that there is a distribution of intensities. We could not get that with a movement of the racket, you agree? The joker: I do not know, if you tell me ... Listen to 'Strange Days...
