In recondite areas of human endeavour there is frequently a sense of ownership built up by semi-closed groups of enthusiast- protagonists. Much of the self-esteem of these individuals is based on their self-ascribed status as expert insiders. When a perceived outsider enters the field with a new information source or hypothesis they often meet with automatic, sometimes visceral, rejection, not as a result of what they have to say, but simply because of what they are. I make this point from a position of having no position at all on the validity or otherwise of her Roswell claims, integrity as a journalist, sexism real or imagined etc. ... -- Gerald O'Connell http://www.onlyport.com Listen to 'Strange Days...
