A Japanese team recently reported beaming neutron's at 60% of
light speed. I don't recall the technical set-up.

But although I couldn't see the original quote at the New
Scientist blog url for some reason, is it possible that the
author said "neutrons" when it should be "neutral particles"?
Neutral particle beams (basically neutral hydrogen atoms) can be
fired from accelerators. They are positive charged first
(stripped of an electron) so they couple with the field and then
neutralised again by combining with an electron beam. I believe
these can be brought near the speed of light.
