Hi Kathy, Scenarios:- a huge hairy black spider scuttles close across the floor, then freezes - hanging from a rafter/branch, a thick green `hawser' suddenly twitches and heaves towards you - from the undergrowth, some large `rat' or coon-like thing (which usually avoid humans) suddenly turns and runs directly at you you're swimming in deep ocean when something much bigger glides underneath a really big bumblebee flies in a window of a moving bus, crowded with (frightened) people reading late at night, a noise from the unused Rayburn stove by your left knee - inside, a long clawed `finger' is scratching at the window [last one doesn't really fit - a bat had flown down the chimney, presumably following a moth attracted by stray light] Those could've been merely primate `perceptions' of some entity near you. Something really `alien' would also be seen, by the primate brain, as such a threat, and likely more so. Are we evolved enough to relax, observe and then react rationally to a really `alien' being? (And what if the `alien' was inorganic and therefore invisible, only able to attempt contact by putting `pictures' into your mind, maybe as you start to fall asleep? Could we handle, then analyze, those perceived `hallucinations'?) Cheers Ray D [In most of those cases I just got out of the way, although I freed the bat, and have helped a few bumblebees (even managed to feed a couple of them) - and the big spiders in my rented chalet in the Italian hills learned to hide under the wall-benches when I shouted at them, and to stay hidden when I had company] Listen to 'Strange Days...
