Which rather illustrates my point about cover-ups - if the
authorities are so all-powerful, why didn't they just cover this

But we do have the law, which states in relation to the FoIA
that the presumption is _for_ disclosure unless the department
concerned can legitimately justify retention. Even if the
decision is taken to retain information, this can be appealed
and the Information Commissioner's department can then examine
the retained information and make an adjudication. I should
shortly be getting the result (after 2 years or so of waiting)
of such an appeal against retention on the grounds of national

I'm curious to know where you think we _can_ go other than as I
described in a previous post - misplaced records - and appeals
against retentions?
