Mr. Ledger, there is a reason you might discern for why, where I could, I place quotation marks around "canals". This was not my choice of label but that of most prominant astronomers of the 19th century who even went so far as to chart and map those "canals". You have any idea why they did this? They did this because the view of what they saw in their day was constant. Aberrations, be they mirages or "optical illusions" are not. Not aiming this at you, sir, for I do well regard your contributions (well, most) but just as those gentlemen in the 19th century, the subject of the "canals" was not ridiculed by any that could read. It shouldn't be today by any that can read and have regard enough to research before they feel obliged to comment. In fact, one of the elements that provoked such hysteria among audiences of the radio broadcast of War of the Worlds was references to those "canals". Perhaps that's one reason for the denial we see here among so many. The mix of science fiction and the known comes just to close to their brittle psyche. And learn this, sir, the droning out of some abstraction of the word "proof" to stymie further discussion when we all are in such an incomplete discovery of context, represents nothing more than an unwillingness to examine history and to utilize such scientific tools as probability. This tactic I had hoped you were above. JCH Listen to 'Strange Days... Indeed' - The PodCast See: http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/sdi/program/subscribers/
