Clark County and Portland-area residents can investigate the paranormal in their home orbit, in two Portland preview events for the 7th Annual UFO Festival in McMinnville, Ore. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Bagdad Theater will host a screening of Paul Davids' "The Sci-Fi Boys," which premiered in April at New York's Tribeca Film Festival. Tickets are $5; audience members must be at least 21. A question-and-answer session with writer- director-producer Davids will follow the film. The theater is at 3702 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd. On May 18, the McMenamins Kennedy School will screen Showtime's 1994 television movie "Roswell." The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at 5736 N.E. 33rd Ave. Again, the film is open only to ages 21 and older. Cost is $5. Afterwards, Jesse Marcel Jr. author of "Roswell: It Really Happened" will appear in a question-and- answer session. Marcel also will be the May 19 speaker at the UFO Festival taking place 7 to 10 p.m. May 19 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 20 at McMenamins Hotel Oregon, 310 N.E. Evans St., McMinnville. Other festival activities include live music, shopping in an outdoor tent, an alien costume parade and Alien Costume Ball. Some events have admission prices, while others are free.
