That makes two large objects, >not one. Bill, Mike and List, May I be so bold as to suggest that the Phoenix sightings of the V-shape objects were in fact modern versions of a possible earlier prototype that was seen in Albuquerque, N.M. on 25 of August 1951. It was described as a flying wing type aircraft, "...and there was no sound that could be attributed to the object. The color of the object was not apparent due to the twilight, but dark chordwise stripes were noticed under the wings. Six to eight pairs of soft flowing lights were noticed on the trailing edge of the wing." Source: Status Report No.2, Project Grudge, December 11, 1951. It was not known to be a known aircraft at the time, and there was believed to be a similar sighthing in Lubbock, Texas. Now I know that the 1951 sightings don't match exactly with what was seen in Phoenix, but with 40 or so years of "modernization" couldn't the Phoenix objects have been the more advanced versions? I would put money on the possibility that the objects seen in 1951 and in Phoenix were in fact terrestrial versions of some secret development program, and thus, would give reason for the military to drop flares to distract the media and the rest of us from the real "UFO", if in fact, flares were used at all. Just a theory that I thought I would share with everybody. Kelly F.
