What I feel some fail to think about is if the flares were dropped at 12,000 altitude, what would the ignition altitude be? The flares don't light up as soon as they drop. SOP procedure would be a 6,000 foot drop, 3,000 ignition, and 500 extinguish. So even if the flares were to be dropped at 16,000 - as I think Dr Maccabee stated - the ignition altitude would be much, much lower. And only those on mountainside homes viewed these lights anyway. As an 8:30 p.m. MST., witness to the massive V-shaped craft, I must congratulate the media and the military for a very successful diversion. Nearly all the attention of the profoundly wonderful night on March 13, 1997, has been on those 5-10pm videos. Mike Fortson Gilbert, Az.
