Who says a self-sponsored test is invalid if the polygrapher is experienced and not in collusion with the subject? It is my recollection that Ed was advised to take a test. He was reluctant to do it but then decided to do it. He arranged a test and then found out that investigator Flannigan had also arranged for a test. By the time Flannigan had arranged a test, Ed had already been "through the mill."
