When faced with this sort of topic, I tend to mostly think of
the good things that could come from it. However, in reading
this, for whatever reason, I became aware of a worrisome

I worry that open contact with another intelligent race, might
make humans more destructive. We might then say "The aliens
will fix it!" and then go about some of our destructive ways,
only with better tools given to us by Zork our friendly alien.

Having aliens hold our hands doesn't seem the best way to grow.
We tend to take for granted what we are given, and cherish more
what we've earned.

Just a new worry of mine.

I'm all for getting an alien's help, this idea just popped in my
mind, and I am now wondering if maybe that is why aliens don't
make more of an open contact. They might know not to give fire
to a baby maybe?
