Bottom Line Of The No Flow Of Gulf Breeze Money

As this issue has been batted around a lot, I would like to
share with the List the results of my inquiries.

The issue was raised by Jerry Black who (based upon tales and
stories allegedly told by Rex Salisbury, Vickie Lyons and
others) that Ed Walters sent a large bundle of cash to MUFON and
or FUFOR and that bundle (rumored to be 10 plus K)of cash was
passed to Bruce Maccabee to taint the results of the
investigation in favor of Ed Walters. I said "allegedly" because
somebody recently claimed that words had been put in Vickie
Lyons' mouth. In essence the allegation was that Ed Walters
channeled/funneled cash through MUFON to Bruce.

Keep in mind that Rex/Vickie and others telling the story appear
to come from the point of view of believing that Ed Walters
hoaxed the GB UFO, while MUFON and Bruce Maccabee concluded
entirely differently based upon their investigation.

Originally the other named UFO organization in the 'BG money
funnel allegations' was FUFOR, however as I recall, Richard Hall
wrote an e-mail to this List that demolished that money theory,
based upon his working with FUFOR. Jerry then concluded that
it was and had to be MUFON for various reasons. However, he was
not able to provide any proof at this point - no copies of tax
returns showing a large donation, not to mention any canceled
checks from Ed showing the large donation or anything else.
Apparently the basis for this was memory mining of Rex and
Rex's belief that it happened and that MUFON had to know.

I e-mailed some principles and asked questions and here is the
bottom line on this issue:

MUFON has no receipts of funds (such as the alleged huge
donation) paid to MUFON from Ed Walters. Apparently Ed Walters
did not pay or contribute to MUFON such rumored sums of money.
Nothing shows up in the MUFON tax returns. Point here - if
MUFON's annual income went up 20K, without a boost of
membership, that figure would show up in the tax returns.

Walt Andrus, who was director of MUFON then. When asked about a
monetary donation from Ed Walters to MUFON and/or him
personally, he emphatically said "NO!"

The MUFON records show some small dollar item in 1988 for a
water analysis, no expenditure in 1989, and another small dollar
item in 1990 for a site survey. The small dollar totaled less
then 250.00. They were described as correct and legitimate
expenses, paid from MUFON funds, as part of the investigation.

MUFON apparently doesn't have any information as to the
involvement (donations and/or expenditures) in Gulf Breeze by
other organizations.

So simply stated, there were no sums of money paid by Ed Walters
to MUFON, then given to Bruce Maccabee to tilt the investigation
in favor of Ed Walters.

So the bottom line on the alleged and talked about "flow of Gulf
Breeze money" is there was no flow. What we have here is another
jewel encrusted helmet story.

Cheers,

Robert
