Subject: FBI Shows Little In The Show-Me State

In his recent call for co-ordination on the following case,
St. Louis Ufologist Bruce Widaman has e-mailed some fellow
researchers, as follows:

"Ryan Wood [a researcher in Colorado] has been told that the
establishment of the Cape Girardeau, Mo., office of the F.B.I.
was because of espionage concerns. We think it may have been the
fact that a flying saucer crashed outside of there in 1941.

Can any of you kind and thoughtful people help me clear this up?

Thank you. Bruce Widaman."

Bruce also has forwarded to me the following:

Mr. Bruce Widaman:

This is in response to your request of 11/12/2003 in which you
asked that a search be conducted for information concerning the
establishment of an FBI office in 1941in Cape Girardo, Missouri,
as a result of espionage concerns.

A search was conducted among the records of the Department of
Justice, specifically the "Subject Index to Various Central
Classified Files", 1918-1981 for the year 1941 under the term
espionage, but no information was found relative to your
request. We also searched the records of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, specifically the correspondence of FBI director
J. Edgar Hoover for the year 1941, but again no information was
found relative to your request.
