I think the link between "The Green Man" and "Little Green Men"
is very tenuous, at best. "The Green Man" has been a
mythological entity for centuries, and there have been numerous
writings about what he represents, such as:

I think of him more as a 'Father Nature' figure and have kept
his image in my garden and home for years.

This isn't to say that there isn't any sort of a link between
mythological entities and what we today know as "aliens".
However, these theories aren't easily proven and are more often
than not simply good subjects for discussion.
