Subject: Good Hunting

I had quite the chuckle while reading more UFO research data.

It's amazing what people will endure to find an answer!

Many of you have braved cold, heat, deadly seas, hostiles,
financial crisis, threats and violence in this constant search
and discovery. I myself recall many a night out in the woods
not caring if bears were about while digging up samples or
videotaping witnesses, dodging the police etc.

Even in Roswell where giant spiders and lightning bolts rained
down.

What the heck was I doing in these dangerous situations I had
to ask myself. I must be nuts to be doing this.

Then I was watching an episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"
and I asked myself, why were these characters leaping into
danger. Marching full into the maw of the monster? What in the
name of Phineas J. Whoopie was wrong with these people?

Then I had to take a look at myself and realized why:

We're hunters.

We don't have enough monsters to hunt and no matter how much
technology we have, we'll leave our cushy homes and tv sets and
recliner chairs to leap pell mell into the nearest danger to
satisfy our curiosity or dog down an elusive quarry.

We_can't_resist_a_mystery! We can't! It's our nature!

In all the animal kingdom, outside of the mosquito we're the
best hunters. We don't care where it is, how many claws it has,
how deep it can swim, we will go after it. Not because we need
it, but because we need 'to'. Underwater, on land, in the skies
and now in space and worlds beyond. We'll track it down til it
drops. Perhaps we should find the Latin term for 'persistant'
and change our scientific name to something like "Homo Sapiens
Persistansis" or something ( pardon to my pals at Warner Bros
Animation and their 'Road Runner' toons ).

The UFOlogists I've met and read about just won't stop! I'm so
amazed that come heck or highwater there are those that just
won't let up. I'm very proud of that and admiring no end.

It's good to see that 'hunter's spirit' is still alive and being
used for the forces of good instead of evil.

Perhaps that's our greatest advantage. That no matter what the
opposition says or does to you, they can't beat you because
you're doing what the sum of all humanity's experiences
dictates:

Hunt.

Whatever the prey is, it can run, but it'll only eventually end
up in a lab.

Good hunting.

Greg
