Eureka! You've got it! The word for today is 'Semantics'!

That's the motherlode! I was wondering when someone would bring
it up! Now we can get this show on the road.

This is what I mean. Years ago when I egged a reporter pal of
mine to dig into the UFO issue via the FOIA he did and then one
day slowly turned to me and said:

"This stonewalling is just semantics bs! If you ask for
information about UFOs or flying saucers you'll get the run
around. We've got to find out what terms they use for this."

Then, a pal in the Air Force at the time told me when I asked
him about UFOs he giggled and said,

"Oh the Air Force doesn't deal with UFOs. Because we're the Air
Force, the best defensive and offensive force in the world. Far
as we're concerned we own the skies and there ain't nothin' in
the air we don't know about and better not be." he finished,
obviously mocking his superiors' response to UFO inquiries. In
other words to even suggest that the skies would have anything
unidentified was considered an 'insult' because the top brass
and politicians didn't want to hear of anything 'unidentified'
because we spend too much money to have anything in our skies
'unidentified'. Also, the enemy is very scared when they think
you know everything.

See what's going on? Military protect data by not classifying it
under the name the public or the enemy would recognize. That's
SOP. So it takes time and patience to get the goods. This takes
good old fashioned detective work. It made sense then and does
now.

That's why I don't go after 'UFO' data from the government. It's
a run-around wild goose chase. All you'll get is a smattering of
information.

Now there _are_ keywords you can dig for. We got this trick from
another reporter. It was funny to watch him go into action on
this one. Just like a search engine when he sent in his FOIA
forms with these words he immediately set off alarms. That's
when he knew he was on to something.

That's how data that is sensitive is categorized. So if one were
looking for the real deal on let's say 'WMDs' it wouldn't be
listed as 'WMDs' it would have a nickname like ' Aunt Martha's
Buntcake'. Why? Because there's no way anyone would associate
the two.

So when you ask the govt. about 'UFOs' or 'Extraterrestrials'
you've gotta understand they don't want you to have the real
information because the enemy might get the information.

That's why you've got to shmooze around and get the pick-up
terms. That means rubbing elbows with the officials in charge or
the ground crews. Luckily these 'buzz words' fly off now and
then and a sharp investigator picks em' up.

So keep your ears open. Slang is often the best clue.

Best,

Greg
