This does not exactly clear up the mystery, but it well might if
you will tell us how the aircraft (Could you see what type of
aircraft was involved?) made what you call a "halo". Did it
seem to be 'sky writing', or just an aircraft at high altitude
leaving a condensation wake ('vapor trail'), or what?
