Actually, violent crime figures have decreased significantly. Some people see a correlation between more abortion, less violent crime, supposedly because there are fewer unwanted/abused kids growing up to be violent adults. Others see it as a natural consequence of demographic shift. That's always the problem with statistics, even with UFO data. There may be correlations, but proving causation is often difficult.
