Hi Alfred!

Unlike the object in the Whittlesea Australia UFO photograph, we
can almost definitely rule out a flying bird or a bug as an
explanation for this spot in the Martian sky! This UFO on Mars
can also be clearly seen in the original Spirit Rover picture
that is posted at NASA's JPL web site below.

Last night I attended a special talk on Mars at the Ontario
Science Centre by William K. Hartmann, a scientist involved with
the Mars Global Surveyor and the author of 'A Traveler's Guide
To Mars'. During the public question period after his
fascinating presentation, I asked Dr. Hartmann for his comments
on the vivid bluish-green colours in certain suspected river
valleys and some deep basins or craters on Mars seen in the
detailed pictures taken by the British spacecraft Mars Express
this is currently orbiting Mars. To my surprise, this Mars
scientist said he was not sure but he suspected that these
colours were not real! Based on this guess, this winner of the
Carl Sagan Medal from the American Astronomical Society came to
the conclusion that these amazing British pictures of Mars do
not really depict water nor could they be interpreted as life on

After the talk, I told Dr. Hartmann while he signed a copy of
his book for me (and then continued to draw a picture of Mars
with its two orbiting moons with a red pen), that I had followed
up in the late Jim Irwin's (Apollo 15 moonwalker) search for
Noah's Ark in eastern Turkey near the borders of Armenia and
Iran and for evidence of a recent global flood similar to the
one than once covered much of the surface of Mars. Although he
knew Irwin and his work and acknowledged that there was large
regional flood in recent human history in that part of the
world, he did not believe that this flood was a world-wide
catastrophic event as described in the Bible and in the written
and oral traditions of peoples all around the globe.

In his talk Dr. Hartmann said that the late Dr. Carl Sagan,
unlike the majority of his fellow scientists, never ruled out
the possibility of large animals or macrobes moving around the
surface of Mars. A geologist working on the two Viking landers
that successfully landed on Mars in 1976 said the following:
"Carl wanted to rev up the camera in order to see rabbits hop
by." (page 76 in 'The Search for Life on Mars' by Henry Cooper).
Maybe this strange white object with the two protruding things
(see the URL below) will turn out to be Carl Sagan's "Rabbit" or
some similar macrobe.

Such a discovery would vindicate Sagan and his more open minded
and exciting approach of doing science and may encourage other
Mars scientists to do likewise who now avoid such scientific
speculation or show any excitement in public leaving us to try
and figure things out. Where are scientists like Carl Sagan when
we need them?
