Hello Gang,

Forgive me for changing gears with the "Whittlesea Thread," but
it seemed like it was time.

Wow! I just finished re-reading the aforementioned thread and
if we could get the 'powers-that-be' to put half as much energy
into investigating the UFO phenomenon publicly, that has been
expended here on the List, I don't believe there would be any
mystery to it all.

Kudos to all of you who took the time to analyze the pic and
make comment - in particular Amy, John, Dan, Diane, Larry, and
not forgetting Don, Ray, Steve, Tim, GT, Dick, Alfred, and
anyone I may have forgotten that took the time to put their
two-cents in.

I was very impressed with the quick reaction and work done on
this photograph in just a few days. Moreover, my hat is off to
John W. Auchettl of PRA (Phenomena Research Australia) for his
original post, as well as Diane Harrison of The Australian UFO
Research Network and her expeditious response.

Although the data in this instance was minimal - a blurry thingy
in a photograph - the events that followed deserve merit; that
is the collection, collation, evaluation and dissemination of
said data.

Although the efforts were 'individual', i.e., not under one
direction - they did have 'commonality' via this List, (thank
you Errol) and did have one goal, i.e., "what the hell is it?"

There were/are people in 4 countries working on this - (that
I've counted). Just think all of this started with a guy that
works for the city, doing his job snapping a picture of a
railroad-crossing. Oh and let's not forget the unusual
occurrence of the city fathers bringing this to the public's
attention - how often does that happen?

Aside from acknowledging the terrific work done by all in the
last few days, it was also very interesting to note the
different interpretations of the object in the photograph. Some
said it was definitely a flying saucer with a dome, others a
bird etc. Some thought it was a hoax, i.e., a 'cut-and-paste
job'.

Of course in regard to this event barring any other evidence,
we're back to the beginning - a blurry thingy in a photograph of
a railroad-crossing, however, we are left with so much more -
that is the knowledge of what can get done with a concerted
effort from those of us that have chosen to take interest in
what we call Ufology - the key being the expeditious collection,
collation, evaluation and dissemination of the data surrounding
a UFO event! Kudos to you all again!

Oh and by the way - the thingy in the picture was a bug flying
by in close proximity to the camera!

Cheers,

Frank
