The object is also >on the negative. I sent the following message to Colin: "The darker circular "blob" with very diffuse edges which is in two photos would appear to be out of focus. At at rate, the nearly uniform around the center fuzziness or diffuseness suggests defocus rather than motion. I would suggest possible bug near lens and backlit by the sky glow from the lightning. The other pictre which shows a horizontal dark, tri-section "bar" across two lightning bolts is more enigmatic. But suppose it, too could be some small thing... insect? Bird? Not too far from the lens (could be far if a large bird in flight). Not much one can do with photos such as these that have images of something no one saw at the time."
