Hi John, Amy,

I've not seen any reference to the time of day the photo was
taken. And like John, I can't see any relationship to a bird or
bug in this picture. That's too convienient. As for blurring
being caused by the object being close to the lens-humbug. I
suggest that the blurring is caused by it's speed through the
air which 1] was not captured at precisely the right shutter
speed, or 2] the object's passage through the air is
superheating the air envelope surrounding it or, 3] the object's
motivating powersource itself is causing the blurring possibly
through light defraction.

There are several other things in the photo which should be
noted, though they may or may not be important. The two signal
lights [fore and background] are out of sync with one another.
The foreground signal's left light is fading while the right is
getting brighter. They flash back and forth which in this case
the camera's shutter froze. The background signal's left light
has reached it's peak intensity.

If this was taken just after high-noon then the light is coming
from the photographer's right side and behind him. the
photographer was then facing south. If before high-noon the
photographer was facing north.

Just observations.

Don Ledger
