Hi Dick,

Good point. Ignition systems seem to be the key. Take for
example light aircraft or any aircraft using gas/recip-engines.
There have been many cases of close encounters with UFOs by
these aircraft without the engines being killed. At least that
are documented or survived to relate the tale. Engine problems
have occurred, but perhaps this is due to the fact that for the
most part they use magnetos rather than distributors for spark.

There are aircraft flying now with Diesel engines, rotary
engines and Dyna-cam engines [they can idle at 75 rpm].

There has to be spark for the gas engines but Diesel depends on
Glo-plugs to start and high compression and the generated heat
to keep them running. The timing is mechanical. It could be
though that some extremely high Gauss field could temporarily
weld [lock them up] the the steel/nickle/chrome components of
these engines and stall them.
