Hi John- I believe that Jackie Gleason's widow mentions this episode in a biography of her late husband. It's only a small tangent, but it's fairly well known that Gleason was very interested in UFOs and reportedly had a home built in the shape of one. Information can also be found at: http://www.skywatch-international.org/gleason.htm or http://j_kidd.tripod.com/b/195.html It is also mentioned in the following, but the links to more detailed information appear to be broken (and may have linked to the article above): http://www.cosmiverse.com/paranormal081401.html Is there any truth to the Gleason/Nixon tale? Gleason and Nixon both had homes in Florida and played golf together as friends. I can't imagine that Gleason would have missed the opportunity to ask the President about UFOs, but I also can't imagine that was possible to get a civilian into such a highly classified area. It would seem that all the known witnesses are deceased, and it remains an interesting tale that will probably never be verified. Steve
