Hello Jim:

I have to chime in and moan the loss of all that forest. I spent
the nite in Show Low once on my way East, very cute little town.

My question is the precise location of the Walton event, the
place in Turkey Springs where they had parked the truck, Walton
walked under the UFO etc.

I try to map sightings to the resolution of the program whenever
possible (*U* records resolve to perhaps 1/3 mile or 500 meters).

My existing record reads: (edited for line lengths)

#11601: 1975/11/05 1810h 110:35:20W 34:18:00N
/r210v24#9+10 +/r24 NICAP: UFO INVESTIGATOR, June'76

In short, the location is imprecise. My longitude and latitude
are based on "9 miles south of Heber, AZ" without consideration
of the actual lay of the land, turns in the roads etc. There are
no roads running due south. 9 miles of twisting road might work
out to 5 miles as the crow flies etc.

Has _anyone_ been to the actual spot, and taken GPS readings of
Longitude/Latitude .. or gotten enough data that I can compute
it from some accessible landmark? How about distance and
direction, as the crow flies, from Heber or other nearby places?

Here, Jim, is a map of the Western USA so you can see some of
what I do with the info:

Any help much appreciated!

Best wishes

- Larry Hatch
