The whole "novelty tape" scenario is rather bizarre. I
personally can accept that such tape was used for Mogul arrays,
but I find it perplexing that none of it has survived for
inspection. This could be a deciding factor in the study of the
"Roswell Incident": if we had a known sample, we could offer it
to Jesse Marcel, Jr. and ask his opinion.

Perhaps this wouldn't "solve" anything, but who knows? Maybe
he'd experience an "ah-ha!" moment and exclaim "That's the
stuff! That's the stuff I saw!"

In the meantime, maybe it would be worth the effort to query
tape manufacturers to see if they ever produced any "novelty
tape." 3M, maybe? The designs at the heart of the debate might
be collecting dust in a file somewhere (just waiting for someone
with rubber gloves to come nit-picking).
