Stan, List, All -

There were documents that I have been chasing since the summer
of 1997. I have the documentation to prove this, including the
letters from the SECAF office telling me their policy on UFOs,
which of course, I didn't want to hear and had not asked about.
I followed these documents through several agencies, finally
locating them at NARA, and telling the people there they had
them. NARA thought I should ask SECAF for them.

In my case, I arrived at NARA about eight in the morning. The
producers had arranged for the documents to be waiting for me
and I spent the morning going through the nine boxes (two others
held video tapes and I already had a list of the tapes so I knew
what they were... FUFOR witness interviews, for example... this
is what we get for cooperating with the AF Roswell
investigation.)

Another of the boxes contained the record of a court martial
that had nothing to do with UFOs. In 1957 a colonel (doctor) was
having unlawful carnal knowledge of a nurse, who, according to
the transcript, was not the brightest bulb in the display.

That left eight boxes... they contained many of the formerly
classified research materials that we have all seen... balloon
research, ejection system research... and other R & D projects.
This has some impact on the UFO case simply because these
classified projects could have held the explanation for what was
found... but they did not.

There were many copies of reports, interviews, and letters, from
McAndrew to various people. I think I found the Cavitt interview
a dozen times in various boxes and filed in folders. There was a
letter from McAndrew suggesting a testimonial dinner for Charles
Moore because of all his help. I hope that we, as taxpayers,
didn't have to spring for that.

Many of the letters were from McAndrew to various people and AF
organizations in his quest for information. Some of that made no
sense to me because it was clear that the organization would
have no info that would be relevant.

In the search of these eight boxes (remember two had video tapes
and the third held only the court martial) I found only enough
interesting information to occupy four pages of notes... one of
those was a classified evaluation of Blanchard by Ramey that
should end this nonsense that Blanchard was a loose cannon. Here
was Ramey's chance to sabotage Blanchard in a classified report
to Curtis LeMay, one that Blanchard would never know had been
made, and Ramey praises the man... this two years _after_ the
"balloon" crash. (Please note the quotes making it a sacastic
remark... everyone should know by now that I can be quite
sarcastic and am most of the time. I don't want anyone thinking
I buy the balloon story.)

There was nothing in those files that provided any real answers.
They were not recently declassified, Indigo Films ( at 999
Anderson Drive, Suite 110, San Rafael, CA 94901) had to know
that.

I knew, after only a couple of hours that these were not all of
what I had wanted, that contrary to what the host of the show
said, these were not recently declassified, and Indigo Films had
no exclusivity. Anyone who wanted could go to NARA and see the
stuff. Indigo was a little surprised when I told them what was
in the files and read to them from the index (which existed
because I asked NARA to inventory the material).

I spent three days going through the stuff to be thorough. I
wasn't given any white gloves to wear but there was no need for
that, other than show. I was interviewed for about three hours
and you saw how much of the stuff they used. Although it wasn't
clear at the time, from things that Karl has said since, it was
clear that I was on board so they could look balanced but they
communicated with him and only called me when no one else could
answer their questions.

Stan, I hope this is what you need, and if you have any specific
questions that might not be of interest to the List, let me
know.
