Huh!? An "unidentified metal object" from the Nat'l Archives?

I highly doubt the History Channel's treatment is going to blow
any of us away, but at the same time I'd like to think they
would steer clear of the 'artifact'/piece of metal presented
as ET in '97.

So is this something new?  I'm curious.
