Subject: Re-Organiztion Of U.S. Security Agencies

Hello List,

As you know, there will probably be a lot of re-shuffling of
duties and personnel among various U.S. security agencies after,
or if, the Dept. of Homeland Security is okayed.

So I was wondering if those of you who are experienced in
researching some of these agencies and trying to get documents
from them via the FOIA have any thoughts on this?

Since the NSA is one of the agencies to be absorbed into the new
department, isn't there a better chance than usual that some
'beyond top secret' documents will get relocated and perhaps
exposed a bit? Or some senior employees who know a lot may be
let off, and then perhaps decide it's time to let out some
secrets, etc.?

Or do you think this will instead merely lead to extra document
shredding?

I did hear on the news this morning, if I recall right, that NSA
is taking this opportunity to declare how important it is that
all their personnel maintain the highest secrecy "standards."

Regards,

Jim Deardorff
