MD 8th District Congressional Campaign of Stephen Bassett

Update - June 4, 2002

For those who have not received or missed previous campaign
updates, here is a recap of the D2003 Campaign to place an
independent candidate (Stephen Bassett) on the congressional
ballot in the 8th District of Maryland:

Four thousand plus nominating signatures will be delivered to
the Maryland State Board of Elections no later than August 5,
2002 (as of this update 1546 signatures have been gathered).
With the certification of these nominating signatures, for the
first time in the nation's history a candidate will be on a
congressional election ballot directly speaking to the FACT of
an extraterrestrial presence and the government embargo on
the truth of that FACT.

This is expected to generate a substantial national and perhaps
international political story drawing further attention to the
D2003 campaign. This attention will help achieve the second
campaign goal, which is to poll 5% or more after the completion
of the Democratic and Republican primaries on September 10.

The 8th District Congressional race is shaping up to be one of
the most intense and closely followed in the country. This
projection was reinforced by a huge, front page article in the
Sunday, June 2 Washington Post. That article is still up at:

The three leading candidates, Connie Morella (R), Chris van
Hollen (D) and Mark Shriver (D), are expected to raise six
million dollars between them before the election is over. Both
parties are trying to gain control of the House. A very close
contest is expected.

Therefore, 5% in the polls could represent the swing votes in
the contest which would draw further attention to the D2003
campaign and help to achieve the third goal of a vote total in
November of 5+%.

The overriding goal is to tie all of this into other ongoing
developments putting pressure on the government to end
the UFO/ET truth embargo.

The volunteer staff is now up to 20 people. 1546 nominating
signatures have been gathered. The campaign received its
first $1000 limit contribution from long time activist, Larry
Bryant. Coordination with other independent candidates
has been undertaken with excellent results. The web site
at www.disclosure2003.net continues to grow and many
new position statements have been added. Many more
will be added soon.

The next two significant D2003 projects will be placing up to
100,000 door hangers throughout the MD 8th District and
obtaining endorsements from researchers, activists and other
notable individuals.

Disclosure2003 is going to achieve its three primary goals: 1)
ballot placement, 2) polling 5%, 3) voting 5%.

Can more be accomplished? Yes! But that is directly dependent
upon how many people are willing to come on board as volunteers
to gather signatures and place door hangers, and of course, how
much money is contributed to the campaign from within the 8th
District and from around the country.

Disclosure2003 is a national campaign trying to bring the
truth to all Americans. We will do our best, and we need
your help.
