Subject: References To Two 60s Mexican Cases?

Dear List,

I have the barest details about two sightings from either 1967
or 1968, month unknown. My intention is not to identify the
phenomena but to know whether the incidents have been catalogued
already. The following are fragments from my only source (a very
reliable one).

(1) "I heard from an American friend that some Mormon
acquaintances who lived in San Cristobal had the night before
experienced some extraordinary encounters with some kind of
hovering "spacecraft" that went up and down very rapidly and
shone its very bright lights in a remarkable display...

"...There were several ex-patriate Americans living in or near
San Cristobal at the time, and from some of them I had heard
that a Mormon family owned a large house on a couple of acres
there. The fact that they were Mormon was simply something to
identify them easily I assume. I don't recall if I ever heard
their names, and don't really know why they were called the
Mormons. I had the impression that they were a wealthy couple
that liked San Cristobal de las Casas enough to move there and
live. All I recall about their experience (I believe it was the
wife who had the experience) was that they were wakened in the
middle of the night and she looked out and saw a bright light
going up and down on their property, like a flying saucer
landing and then taking off and then landing again (it was in a
patch of trees I recall)."

(2) [LOCATION: CHIAPAS, MEXICO] "I'm not sure who saw the light
first, but I think he [a colleague] did. I don't recall any
color, nor any shape; just a light, like a meteor. It was at
night (perhaps 9 or 10 pm), and it looked like an airplane
light, though it was moving so fast across the sky that it would
have had to be pretty close to the ground if it was an airplane,
or so it appeared; yet it couldn't have been an airplane that
close to the ground, or we would have heard the engines. So my
first thought was that it must be a long lasting meteor, and
then I thought it might be one of the satellites that we had
shot into space (I knew about them, but had never seen one). As
we watched it, figuring it was almost certainly a very long
lasting meteor, it zig-zagged, seemingly contradicting all
experience we had had with moving objects. We continued watching
it for what seemed like several minutes I believe, until it was
gone from view...

"...I mentioned that the US had shot a rocket up into the sky
with a satellite attached to it, which might account for the
lighted object we had seen, except for the zig-zagging (it did
that at least a couple of times during our watch)..."

Any feedback would be appreciated and rewarded with a virtual
glass of wine or beer at the very least.

Thank you,

Chris Aubeck
