Howdy from Tejas and ELFIS,

This is SMiles Lewis, founder of ELFIS and the UFOU. It has
been a while since this e-mail list went out, and this is an
intermediary transmission to notify all of up-coming changes at
E.L.F. Infested Spaces. But first a few announcements:

1) Starting with our next issue (#9) ELFIS will have a new
Senior Editor at the helm, Byron M. Beyer. A fellow seeker,
researcher and writer, Byron is no stranger to the "phenomenon"
and the questions it raises. He will be assisting me at ELFIS
with everything from art design to html coding. Please extend a
warm welcome for his incredible efforts to get ELFIS back on
track: mailto:elfis.ed@angelfire.com

2) Half way through our next quarterly On-line issue, ELFIS will
again become a subscriber driven magazine. When we made the
transition from print to the web, we always intended to
eventually become a subscription e-zine, and the time has nearly
arrived. Portions of each issue will remain free to the public,
however the "meat and marrow" will only be accessible through
the member portal. Future transmissions will confirm
subscription/membership costs and benefits.

3) Engulfing the renewed subscriber-driven format will be a
brand new look for E.L.F. INFESTED SPACES Journal of Possible
Paradigms. The site is currently experiencing a grand makeover
with the artistic help of our new editor, Byron Beyer. Wait till
you see it!

4) One of the first and best new features of our new site will
be the Researcher Dialogue Department, wherein we tackle a
specific question important to the understanding of the UFO and
related phenomena. Researcher Dialogue will serve as a forum for
new ideas about the exploration of possible paradigms; a place
where diverse opinions can comingle to bring about new avenues
for research. We've asked some of the best brains out there to
give us their opinion on a different topic each issue. Our
esteemed panel for Issue 9 includes Greg Bishop, Harv Howard,
Jim Keith, Thom Laaki, Eugenia Macer-Story, Steve Mizrach, Peter
Stenshoel, Tim Brigham, Robert Larson, myself, and the
irrascible Mr. Baggins, among others.

Our first question to this fine assortment of questors is:

Given the proliferation in recent years of ufo / paranormal /
dreamtime imagery in the media (VW's "Reverse Engineered From
UFO's" ad comes glaringly to mind), do you feel that this is
actually changing or affecting the phenomenon itself? Is the
mass-media consciousness causing the UFO phenomenon to change
the way it interfaces with us?

5) Another announcement is my recent appointment as MUFON State
Section Director for Travis and Williamson Counties. I've
created a home page for the new Austin MUFON Chapter at
http://www.elfis.net/AUSTIN/MUFON/ There you will find recent
announcements and information of note regarding the Austin UFO

This Saturday the 17th from 1-3 pm I will be speaking at the
FringeWare Bookstore at 2716 Guadalupe street, kicking off the
first in a continuing series of presentations to the local
community. Each month we will be hosting the best speakers and
authors offering there own unique perspectives on the
phenomenon. The mailing list features updates on local events
and speakers-Subscribe here: http://AustinMUFON.listbot.com

So, if you are in Austin this weekend, please stop by and join
us at FringeWare. Or if you are interested in speaking at one of
our local meetings please feel free to contact me.
