Kal, Don't know much about the ocean predictions, but the canyon is very old news and has been known since the '70's. The canyon itself is larger than the horizontal expanse of the United States. I can't imagine why NASA would decide to celebrate this as a new finding as my generation was learning about this surface feature back in high school. Jared.
